Gerontological nursing is a subject that studies the characteristics of physical health, mental health and disease care for the elderly, as well as preventive health care for the elderly, from physiological, psychological, socio-cultural and developmental perspective of the elderly. This course focuses on the knowledge of aging and care systems for the elderly, health assessment for the elderly, daily care for the elderly, mental health and mental care, medication safety and nursing, common health problems and care during sickness, hospice care, etc. The lecturer provides meticulous, lively and systematic teaching, combined with case-based teaching and the latest development in elderly care in China as well as globally, to present learners with the knowledge and skills of caring for the elderly. Therefore, students of this course, in their future clinical practice, will be able to help the elderly achieve or maintain optimal health status, as well as help them to pass away with peace and dignity, thereby improving their quality of life, and contributing to the process of active aging.
